Ritz cocktail
We’ve had a piece of good news for work this evening. Consequently, instead of the daily video, we thought we’d share a recipe for a sparkling Champagne cocktail. It helped round out a fabulous evening. We hope it might do the same for you.
Created by Dale DeGroff, one of the late twentieth century's cocktail greats, this Ritz is the New York one. Apparently, he based it on older cocktails made specifically for Ritz bars in London, Paris and Madrid.
Ingredients
22 ml cognac
15 ml Cointreau
7 ml maraschino
7 ml fresh lemon juice
90 ml brut Champagne
A flamed orange twist
Method
Place the cognac, Cointreau, maraschino and lemon juice into a mixing glass and stir over ice for 25 seconds.
Double strain into a flute an top up with the Champagne. Garnish with the flamed orange twist.
Relax, sip, imagine you are sitting at the marble-topped bar, a stone's throw from Central Park.
