Lamb's Club Special cocktail

We had to use up a lot of champagne and wine last night.  So, we decided it was a good idea - on a night before a day of work - to experiment with different cocktails.

What were we thinking?

Pretty corking hangovers today were the pretty obvious result.  Even when we put the laptop down at the end of the day, hangovers were still in full flow.

So… we made another wise choice: we decided to try hair of the dog.  At the risk of admitting to being know-it-all cocktail bores, we knew we needed more vitamin C in the system. Obvious answer: some form of sour cocktail with booze and a staggering amount of lemon juice.

So we made a Lamb’s Club Special cocktail.  At home, we normally eschew a cocktail which requires an egg white due to the mess.

WE.

ARE.

CONVERTED!

Might we recommend this as a stonking hangover cure? Or just because…

Ingredients

60 ml bourbon

2.5 ml pastis

22 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice

22 ml sugar syrup

1 egg white

Method

Place all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and dry shake for 30 seconds.

Add ice into the shaker and shake for a further 25 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is frosted.  Double strain into a coupe.

Sip until you recover.
