Here we go again: COVID lockdown v3.0 requires a Corpse Reviver No. 2
Yikes.
It's Saturday 19 December 2020 and we're writing this in London, UK. The UK Government has just announced its tightest COVID-19 restrictions in the past six months.
And Christmas is cancelled.
Yep. The UK Prime Minister has just cancelled Christmas for over 11 million people in the UK. It's the South East of England, including London - where Last But One Drink(s) is dealing with coronavirus.
The UK Prime Minister led a press conference to give the news. Immediately afterwards, we received a message from a friend:
That's it; I'm dead.
We get it. Nightmare. But death is not the answer. So, in honour of our friend, we're sharing our recipe for a Corpse Reviver No.2. We've based it on Harry Craddock's version from the 1930 edition of The Savoy Cocktail Book.
Ingredients
22.5ml London dry gin
22.5ml triple sec
22.5ml Lillet blanc or other dry vermouth [Craddock used Kina Lillet but, alas, this doesn't exist anymore. . .]
22.5ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 dashes absinthe
Method
Shake over ice and strain into a glass straight out of the freezer.
Note: Simon Difford adds 2.5ml sugar syrup to his version of the Craddock original. We like this addition as it is rather balanced but we also really like the sharpness of the original.
