Don't worry, we've got your daiquiri
Well, goodness. We were intending to give you the first of our How to Get through Lockdown v3.0 miniseries today but, frankly, COVID-19 has got in the way.
So, rather than leave you thirsty, here is a recipe for a classic daiquiri. It reminds us of time we spent in Cuba about ten years ago. We were lucky enough to spend time at the bar in El Floridita, the bar in Havana known as la cuña del daiquiri - the birthplace of the daiquiri. There, they famously serve an incredible frozen daiquiri. Whilst we want to revel in the open-neck-short-sleeve-shirted heat of Havana during the cold, dank winter here in London, we're stopping short of the blended crushed ice. Instead, we're giving you our preferred recipe for a standard daiquiri. The ingredients and method are simple. And it screams summer sun on the skin.
Feel the warmth pulsing from the cold drink.
Ingredients
60ml Havana Carta Blanca light rum
30ml freshly squeezed lime
20ml rich sugar syrup
Method
Shake all the ingredients together over ice.
Double strain into a well-chilled coupe.
Note
The traditional standard recipe calls for 22.5ml rich sugar syrup. At Last But One Drink(s), we prefer a slightly drier, slightly tarter version, so we've dialled down the sugar syrup a little. How do you like it?
